The Rose of Tralee International 10k

The Rose of Tralee International 10k  will take place on  Sunday 17th August 2014, through the streets of Tralee, combining a fantastic route with the  atmosphere of the Rose of Tralee International Festival. This race is  limited to 1,000 runners .

The local community has taken the event to heart - it’s already known as The People’s Marathon.

Runners love it too: Irish Runner Magazine described it as “a race organised by runners for runners” - and one that “ranks up there with the best”.

Pride, passion and community - it’s  what the Kerry’s Eye Tralee International Marathon is all about.

The Kerry’s Eye International Marathon and Half Marathon was another major success - with great weather, great excitement and a great atmosphere to back up the massive efforts of all the runners.

It was a real community event too - all along the route there were hundreds of supporters and well-wishers to cheer on the runners as they headed for the line.

Right from the start in Tralee, out to Ardfert, and across towards Barrow and the Spa and Fenit - and then all the way home to Denny Street in Tralee, the marathon and half-marathon runners received the kind of support that gave them the extra kick for the finish line.

The first runner to cross the line in the full marathon was Garry O'Hanlon (1), in a time of 02:31:48.

Second home was Michael O'Regan (273) in a time of 02:46:35 and third was   Derek Griffin (126) who crossed the line with 02:53:19 on the clock.

The first female runner home was Anna Meria Costelloe (51) in a time of 02:58:39, 2nd was Ann Marie Holland (141) in a time of 03:02:37 and 3rd past the line was Ruthann Sheahan (319) in a time of 03:09:35

In the half-marathon, the first runner over the line was   David MANSFIELD (1307) in a time of   01:10:04 . Second was    Michael OREGAN (1444) in a time of   01:13:56, and third was    Julio Cesar CASTRO  in a time of   01:16:06 .

The first female in the half-marathon was    Sharon WOODS (1561) who ran the course in   01:30:36 .

Alison Kirwan (1567) was second in a time of    01:31:41, and  Susan MURNANE (1349) was third, in   01:33:14 .

But in the Kerry’s Eye Tralee International Marathon and Half Marathon, everyone’s a winner. Hundreds and hundreds more runners also crossed the line, many for the very first time in a running event - congrats to them also: they trained hard for months and months, and have finally reached their goal.
